Ninja Camp-8/5/2009
In this log I focus on only the major events that happened from my prospective. This log is meant to be a recoding of how my Ninja Camp experience went. For me Ninja Camp like being inside happiness, for (up to this point,) this is as close to I have come to true peace. When the camp was over I found myself sadden and found it difficult return, even though it was only one week.
First dayIt started on Monday July 20th where I meet at my church. We drove to Nevada City ate lunch, continued to the camp. I was in cabin TC 9, meet with some of my cabin mates. Went swimming, came back met my consoler (really cool). I learned I was on the team Green 3 and was on the first meal rotation. After the first dinner we went to the sermon featuring band Logan Martin and the speaker Joseph, both were really good.
The routineEach morning I wake up at 7:30-8:00, shower and have breakfast at 8:45. Go back to cabin for clean up, then morning service. Then activity one which for Green 3 is on the field, then came lunch. Then to cabin to prepare for activity two which was in the pool. Activity three was choose, Tuesday we sat in the gazebo, Wednesday paint ball, Thursday ropes course, Friday rock wall (I used the time to impersonate and make fun of Bear Gryills because he is a numb-nut). After choose is free time then dinner. Afterward we prepare for the night sermon.
Faith and GodIn our travels we some times meet people, and at some point when they speak you realize that the words they say, there meaning is from God. This is how I felt about Joseph, like anyone though, his words should be researched, but the meaning was from God. On Monday near the end of the sermon Joseph began a prayer and stated that those want to find there path in God to forward to pray. I was unsure of what to do, for I indeed seek that; but was not interested in walking all the way to front of everyone like that. After awhile people piled up in the front and so I went up the back side. The next day he called on us once again again. So this I put fear aside and an uncharacteristic move, I went up there quickly, answering God's call. Being at the alter was a very intriguing experience. Many were at the alter, some were quite. While many others were crying there eyes out, still others honoring Jesus' name out loud in ways I have never seen children do before. I gave them my respect. It amazed me how so many had shed tears that week, the whole time I was there I did not. Did I miss something?
The ClimaxWednesday was the night that proved to be the turning point of everyones faith at Ninja Camp, for better or for worse no one was the same in there faith after this night. Joseph [God] called us [me] to the alter once again, but this time called on those in need of healing. Some kid with an injured leg, can now spin in cycles. A young man who is partly deaf can now hear a little more. But was the girl who was missing part of her arm that defined the night. The whole group of us 400 plus prayed for girl to regain a arm. Many of us have never seen her before and may never see again. But as I stood their I saw it happen. At that moment all time slowed and feeling of disconnect to my senses, a cool chill went through me and it felt as though I was going to have a seizer. For at that instant, the girls right arm grew 1 cm! The affect may seem small but the power is huge, for there is no longer any doubt to Jesus and his power! I quickly grabbed the people round me so I would not fall, and promptly recovered. I remember the girl next to me crying with joy, “Isn't that amazing!?!”. At moment I stood closer to God then ever before.
The conclusionUntil the next day the camp was somber what had happened and sense of uncertainty hung in the air. Many were frustrated that she did not get a whole arm others sure of Gods will. The next night was clam and the last night Friday, Joseph gave a message that meant a lot to me. He talked about were to draw the line in relationships when it comes to sexual activities, and that line is a lot farther back then most teens think.
InteractingAt Ninja Camp I made more friends in one week then a whole year at school (I have not figured out if that is sad or good). When I came to Ninja camp I Knew no one, I knew in order to have a good I needed to make friends and fast, much faster than normal. So I got bold. Found any group of people that looked cool and hung out with them, something that is a little uncharacteristic of me. Worked every time. I now know to make friends like a ninja. While at Ninja camp I met and saw many look-a-likes of people I know in Reno. I will not go into detail about them but one stood out. That was the look-a-like to my girl friend. It was creepy, creepy, creepy, scary, for this person is so like my girl friend one could pee themselves. As the week came to a close I knew I must keep in touch with my friends. So I made a catalog of my camp friends so they may not be forgotten.
EndgameCabin TC 9 happens to be the best cabin in the whole camp. At midnight on Thursday someone came in our cabin with 40 Taco Bell tacos, I've never seen so many tacos in one place, and I can eat all of them. The next night (the last night), after the winner was found out (yellow I think,) the same person comes up to our cabin at 2 Am and gives us 40 McDonald's cheese burgers and fries. Then two of my cabin mates come in with an Indian statue and place it in the cabin. Then we come up with plan to prank the girls cabin (of Green 3). The guys carry the Indian statue and place it in front of their cabin. Then they knock the door and hide, but no response. This fun goes on for 10 minuets. Inside the girls cabin hear many unusual sounds. They know some one is out there and begin to get a little scared. Finally someone opens the door, and sees the Indian and they all scream. We all get a good laugh. Then it was decided that at moment 3:30 Am we should all go on a hike to a creepy old mans house near an old grave yard, who could pass that up? We all got back to cabins at 5 Am the Sun was already coming up.
ConclusionThose were the main events that happened at Ninja Camp. Many details have been left out because it would be to long and dry to go over everything. But thats the highlights, these are events that meant the most to me. The rest shall be membered by those who were there.
Tech Report -2/16/2009
Right now I (Matthew Kluft) am the Technology Officer In Charge at Air Force Junior Reserved Officer Training Corps NV-20012, in Reno Nevada. As of last week me and my Tech Department created The ''ROTC In Action'' Video, which is basically a advertisement for JROTC. The video was aired in study hall last Wednesday, and was a major success. Technology was called upon to assist a guest speaker during A Flight on Wednesday. There is a multifunction with the Novell login on JROTC Workstation 3 you can still login but all attempts to standardize it with the other workstations have thus far failed, we will continue to investigate the problem. Efforts will be made to update and maintain the NV-20012 website which at the moment sits disrepair.
